Thank you notes

These are some of the thank-you notes that the Bishop's Fund for Children has received:

The Bridge Family Center, Inc. West Hartford
“Your contribution will be used to purchase necessities such as food, clothing, toiletries, replacement sheets, pillows and other essentials. All of these necessities and after-school recreational activities fundamental to our program will be supported by your grant.

A well-cared for residence with a warm, home-like atmosphere is so important to the homeless girls at The Bridge Youth Shelter, who have spent much of their lives in institutions. At the shelter, children in crisis experience the simple pleasures of life, which many of us take for granted: the comfort of a warm bed, food to eat, drug and alcohol-free recreational activities, seasonally appropriate clothing, and a safe living space. For many of the girls who come through our doors, these basic comforts have only been a dream. The support of the Bishop’s Fund for Children will help brighten their lives.”

Lanterns Mentoring Program : Andover, Hebron, Marlborough Youth Services, Inc.
“I would like to thank you and all involved with the Bishop’s Fund for Children for awarding a grant to the Lanterns Mentoring Program.
During the past year our program has worked with many students who have experienced difficult and even traumatic events, including one child who was removed from her home and has been living in a shelter for over 8 months, and another who underwent complicated surgery for removal of a stomach tumor. Two weeks ago, the Lanterns Program held its ‘Year-End Celebration,’ where students, their families, and adult volunteer mentors joined together to celebrate their friendship and accomplishments. To witness the growth for these young people, and see the deep bond they have formed with their mentors, was truly a heartwarming experience, and it exemplified for us yet again the important work of our program. This has only been accomplished through the support of the Bishop’s Fund for Children, for which we are very grateful.”

Interfaith Housing Association (IHA), Westport
“We are very grateful to the Bishop’s Fund for Children for the grant for the Bacharach Community. The work we are able to do with families is vital if we are to end the experience of homelessness for generations of family members. Unfortunately, being homeless as a child is the best predictor for becoming homeless as an adult. If we can find, and we do, a permanent solution for a family’s experience of homelessness, then we have a good chance of developing stable children who will not themselves become homeless.”

George Washington Carver Center, Norwalk
“It is only with the support of caring people like you that we are able to craft brighter futures for many at-risk youth. Carver has been helping youth in the greater Norwalk community for over 68 years. Our focus is on helping low to moderate income, minority students realize their potential. Beginning in elementary school, our goal is to motivate them to reach for a college education, and to provide the adult support they need to succeed.”
