Connecticut's Asset Network
(CAN) is a grassroots nonprofit network of citizens and organizations
that promote the integration and successful use of asset-based strategies
for community development. Its mission is to support healthy communities
where everyone is a resource and makes a difference.
Institute
for Peace and Justice promotes conflict resolution and resources
Episcopal Public
Policy Network (EPPN) is a nationwide grassroots network
of Episcopalians who call and write their members of Congress and
the Administration to advocate positions of the Church. Members
of the EPPN receive policy alerts updating them on what is happening
in Washington, the Church's position on public policies, and techniques
and information on contacting their government leaders. EPPN members
also receive a congressional directory and action guide, legislative
updates and newsletters, training in advocacy methods, online resources
and sample letters.
Search Institute
is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide
leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children,
youth, and communities. To accomplish this mission, the institute
generates and communicates new knowledge, and brings together community,
state, and national leaders. At the heart of the institute's work
is the framework of 40 Developmental Assets, which are positive
experiences and personal qualities that young people need to grow
up healthy, caring, and responsible.
Lion & Lamb Project
Has as its mission to stop the marketing of violence to children.
We do this by helping parents, industry and government officials
recognize that violence is not child's play - and by galvanizing
concerned adults to take action.
The Web of Creation
is a faith-based environmental advocacy network that provides information
on environmental crises and resources for possible solutions. Their
goal is to support and inform religious organizations and others
in their work to create communities of responsible caretakers of
creation with effective public leaders. They believe collective
and individual lifestyle changes are important tools in creating
spiritual transformation toward a worldview based on nature's systems
and spiritual values of cooperation, connection and commitment.
Congregations Concerned for
Children is an interfaith advocacy group from the Minnesota
faith community who are committed to being a voice for children
and participate in actions that lead to a better life for all children.
Their website lists ways congregational leaders, decision makers
and congregations can act and speak out on issues the effect children
everywhere.
Ecumenical Advocacy Days
for Global Peace and Justice highlight the urgency of pursuing
wise and peaceful solutions to conflicts and the need for aid, debt
and trade policies that benefit our impoverished brothers and sisters
throughout the world. Participants examine U.S. policy regarding
the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America, global economic justice,
global security, eco-justice and U.S. domestic issues. There are
challenging speakers, issue briefings and training in advocacy.
Comprehensive briefings precede visits with members of Congress
or their key policy staff assistants.
