See "4 Orders of Ministry" for a description of ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church.

  • People interested in exploring a call to the diaconate must attend a "Deacon Information Day" at the Diocesan House. They also must take the two-year Ministry Exploration and Education program offered by the diocese. During that time, they explore their call to the diaconate; if confirmed, candidates then take additional training before ordination to the diaconate. Once ordained, deacons are assigned by the bishop to serve in a parish; they convene annually for a retreat and renewal of vows. For more information, contact Mayra Novo at mnovo@ctdiocese.org in the office of the suffragan bishop. See also: FAQs About Deacons (for priests and others) There is a committee of the Commission on Ministry that works with persons discerning a call to the diaconate.
  • People interested in exploring a call to the priesthood must attend a "Priesthood Information Day" at the Diocesan House. At that time, the process leading to ordination is described. There are two committees of the Commission on Ministry that work with the postulants and candidates for ordination. For more information, contact Linda Walley at lwalley@ctdiocese.org in the office of the Canon to the Ordinary Deacon Marge Roccoberton.
